Low-Altitude Economy Drives New Urban Solutions
In front of the main building of the Greater Bay Area Data Application Industrial Park, an innovative demonstration drew widespread attention — a professional drone equipped with a high-pressure sprayer and rotating brush steadily took off, hovering close to the glass curtain wall of the high-rise. As the operator adjusted the controls, the drone began an automated cleaning process, spraying cleaning solution and scrubbing away years of accumulated dust. Within moments, the dull façade started to regain its original shine — a vivid example of how low-altitude economy is reshaping urban services.

Traditionally, cleaning the exterior walls of tall buildings relied on manual “spider-men” suspended from ropes, a method that carries significant safety risks and is heavily influenced by weather and worker endurance. Cleaning even a single skyscraper could take several days, with high labor costs and potential safety hazards.
Now, with the deployment of specialized cleaning drones, this task can be completed with remarkable efficiency and zero human risk. During the demonstration, the drone autonomously followed a preset flight path, spraying water evenly across the glass while its rotary brush gently removed dirt and stains. Water droplets glided down the surface, leaving behind a crystal-clear reflection. The entire process for one high-rise section took just 20 minutes — a threefold improvement in efficiency compared to traditional manual methods.

The drone features ±5 cm hovering accuracy, ensuring stable flight even in turbulent air. This allows precise control of both spray volume and brush pressure, preventing excessive cleaning fluid usage or potential surface damage. The system can also adapt to varying building heights and angles, making it ideal for modern architectural complexes with expansive glass façades.
This demonstration showcases how drone-based cleaning solutions can integrate advanced flight control, intelligent sensing, and mechanical precision to address one of the most challenging aspects of urban maintenance — high-altitude exterior cleaning.

With the success of this pilot project, the technology is expected to expand into more scenarios such as office towers, hotels, and large public facilities.
